PHROIBITION is the name of the period from 1920 to 1933 when alcohol consumption was banned across the United States. Meanwhile, ORGANIZED CRIME GROUPS established a lucrative black market to meet the growing demand for alcohol. Prohibition increased also corruption and often the criminal worked side by side with corrupt policemen and government officials.

In the late 1920's it was clear that Prohibition wasn't the answer to resolve the problems of society instead it contributed to political corruption and organized crime. With the start of the GREAT DEPRESSION in 1929 the government needed the taxes derived from alcohol sales.
